This villa with medieval streets and diagonal intersections is situated on the river Esla. It is an important point in the eighth stage to Santiago Calixtinus collected in the Codex. It was provided with jurisdiction by King Ferdinand II of León in 1181, who fortified it with walls It has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1931 and its walled enclosure is a Property of Cultural Interest.
