Doña Urraca Atapuerca donated the villa to the Military Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, whose members attended carefully to the sick pilgrims. Alfonso VII confirm this donation in the year 1138.
To cross the marshland between the holy Atapuerca Ages and Ortega engineer built a causeway which still has remains. In the vicinity of this enclave left standing a landmark commemorating the battle fought in these fields Navarre and Castile.
Moreover, in this village you can find: the Atapuerca Mountain Range, the Parish Church of San Martín, the Menhir and the Dolmen Burial Mounds.
