The summer solstice arrives, and San Pedro Manrique revives its most traditional and magical rite, the Passage of Fire. With the arrival of the shortest night of the year, the stands of the Virgen de la Peña enclosure fill with locals and visitors to enjoy this spectacle, whose symbolism is associated with the purifying effect of fire.

At mid-moche, a carpet of oak wood embers, meticulously prepared over hours, is crossed by the fire bearers, identified with a red sash—nowadays, both women and men—of the village, either alone or with someone on their shoulders, to fulfill this ancestral rite.

Immediately before the ceremony begins, the "móndidas" (mondidas), three young unmarried women who symbolize the fire goddesses in Celtic mythology, enter.
