The PALEOBOTANIC CLASSROOM of Fabero is a non-profit organization at the service of society and its development, born in 2019, to deepen the knowledge of the territory and the revaluation of its paleontological and natural interest, for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment of its inhabitants and visitors, which cares for, investigates and makes known the material and intangible heritage of the surroundings of Fabero and its districts: Fontoria, Bárcena, Lillo, Otero de Naraguantes and San Pedro de Paradela.

An initiative of local residents and former miners who come together to share their concerns and energies to gather and care for a collection of fossils that tells us about the creatures that inhabited these lands more than 300 million years ago, in the Stephanian Carboniferous, and also about those who have gathered them, following the closure of one of the largest open-cast coal mines in Europe.
