Diocesan and Holy Week Museum of Leon
Founded in the heart of the former Seminary of Leon, the Diocesan and Holy Week Museum celebrates centuries of devotion and sacred art. Its history begins in 1606 when Bishop Fray Andrés de Caso established the Seminary of Leon, transforming over the years into the magnificent building we know today, completed in 1927 and currently destined to preserve the rich cultural and religious heritage of Leon. With a renovation completed in 2020, the museum becomes an emblematic work of religiosity and the art of Holy Week.
The Diocesan and Holy Week Museum aims to become a reflection of the significance of Holy Week in Leon, considered a Festival of International Tourist Interest. From a theological, devotional, artistic and anthropological perspective, the museum is an invitation to relive the traditions of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ. A cultural and devotional space promoted by the Diocese of Leon with the support of the Junta Mayor de Cofradías y Hermandades de la Semana Santa de Leon.
