Convent of San Marcos
A 12th-century inn rebuilt in the 16th century, it was once a prison (where Francisco de Quevedo was held captive), a cavalry barracks, a hospital, and is currently a National Parador.
Its Plateresque façade stands out, designed by Juan de Juni and Pedro Larrea. Its Gothic-style church and cloister are also of great interest.
The Church of San Marcos, which is located in the continuation of the main façade of the Convent in an annex building, is the headquarters of the Museum of Leon, with remains and pieces of great historical and artistic value, among them the Christ of Carrizo, a spiritual figure from the 11th century, as well as objects of prehistoric, Roman and medieval art.
