Church of San Lorenzo
Built in the 12th and 13th centuries, this church consists of a three-section single nave with ribbed vaults. Its monuental apse is one of the most original of castilian romanesque architecture. Interesting columns and a blind-arched canopy. It used to be owned by the order of the Caballeros de San Juan de Jerusalén (Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem).
Numerous monumental sculptures decorate the capitals, beam-ends and round supports. The three church fronts have slightly pointed archivolts and the most interesting one, the Saint John front on the west side of the church, boasts a rich and complex sculpture decoration. Among the numerous iconographic representations to be found in this front are the figures of pilgrims with their typical Jacobean attributes, the scallop shell and the staff.
