It is located in Briviesca, the capital of La Bureba, in the area of Burgos, a crossroads in Roman times and the scene of fights between Christians and Moors, in times of the Reconquista.

In 1387, the Cortes de Castilla were celebrated in Briviesca, which became in platform and capital of kingdom and reached the maximum splendor of the villa in this time, and is when the main religious buildings were built as is this case, the convent of Santa Clara. It is a city which is recognized by its urban floor, a regular articulated floor with clear remains of the Roman culture. The church has big proportions, with ribbed vaults, with slender columns built into the walls.

The small bell tower, which is located in the main façade, stands out of the convent. It is a set of buildings which still preserve the greatness and splendor of what was.
