In Belmonte, the Canal de Castilla takes a 90º turn towards Medina de Rioseco where the route ends. A considerable part of the town's castle has survived. This castle resembles the palatial castles built in France during the Renaissance.

The best preserved section of the castle is its tower. Built between the 15th and 16th century, the oldest section of the castle is the lower part of the keep, similar in style to other strongholds by Gómez de la Isla, such as the castle in Fuensaldaña, Peñafiel and Torrelobatón.

In the nearby village of Tamaríz de Campos, a beautiful 5-arch aqueduct can be found.
