The party of the cucurrumachos takes place on "el Domingo Gordo", or "Carnival Sunday". The cucurrumachos wear a "pinguera blanket" jumpsuit, cover their face with the mask, and carry cowbells. They carry a saddlebag filled with straw and they are often armed with pitchforks or carry banners with animal skulls and bones.

Early on Sunday the sound of the cowbells announces that "the quintos" are approaching. In the afternoon, to the sound of bagpipes and tambourines, family or friends dressed up, along with "the quintos" will arrive at the square where the planted poplar stands. Two circles are formed, one formed by "the quintos" and the other by their mothers and other women. Inside the small circle is the Heifer, that is to say, "El Vaquilla". The mature men are spectators or Cucurrumachos. From the balcony of the Town Hall the proclamation is made until two booms sound and "la Vaquilla" collapses dead in the inner circle. The proclamation is read again while the circles rotate around the lying "la Vaquilla". Then the miracle occurs, with the sound of the cowbells they manage to set "la Vaquilla" on his feet, who joins his companions until the proclamation ends. At this moment the Cucurrumachos take off their masks and make themselves known. Then, to the sound of traditional music, the neighbours enjoy sweets and drinks.
