The Roman city of Ávila needed a bridge to cross the Adaja River. A beautiful bridge that is located near the walled enclosure, in the southern part of this city. A bridge capable of communicating the 'decuman' gate of the west with the opposite bank of the river.

Only the abutments hidden on the edges remain of the primitive Roman bridge. The bridge that you can see is from the 12th century, a moment of splendor for the city. It currently has three arches supported on piles with reused ashlars from the Roman necropolis. The cutwaters correspond to that time with subsequent consolidation actions.

It is a bridge that is still a rich architectural work for this city and whoever visits it.
