The Vale do Tua Regional Natural Park (with about 25,000 ha) is characterized by the presence of mountains and imposing quartzite ranges, low plateau areas and valleys with steep slopes, especially in the final reaches of the Tua and Tinhela rivers. .

The Tua Valley has some of the most interesting plant formations in Terra Quente, namely boxwood massifs, zebra forests and cork oaks. Diversified flora - 700 species of vascular flora - with emphasis on endemism Digitalis purpurea subsp. amandiana - and 400 of cryptogamic flora (bryophytes and lichens).

In the field of fauna, 943 species have been identified so far, 744 of terrestrial invertebrates, 15 of fish, 12 of amphibians, 20 of reptiles, 123 of birds and 29 of mammals, of which 14 are bats (i.e. bats).
