Footsteps of Teresa of Ávila - Palencia
- Previous
- Following
Right from the start, the city of Palencia lent its support to the founding of the city in 1580, led by Bishop Álvaro de Mendoza, a close friend of the Saint. Saint Teresa would return to the city on two later occasions, and the warm welcome she received from the residents of Palencia is reflected in the phrase attributed to her: "the people of Palencia are made of some of the finest stuff I have ever seen".
