In the poem of Mio Cid, the size of the castle is mentioned, the Castillo de Gormaz, considered as one of the largest in all Europe. Built by the Moors at the end of the 9th century/beginning of the 10th century, it started off as a small castle.
The tourist should visit the chapel, the Ermita de San Miguel de Gormaz, with its pretty two-roomed belfry, and see the beautiful jurisdictional column.
