It was founded in 1238 according to the rigorous rule of the Franciscans of San Damiano or Poor Clares. This former female cloistered convent preserves few remains from the time of its founding, just a simple Gothic doorway with an alfiz and a few windows.

A fire forced its reconstruction at the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. In Renaissance style we can see the magnificent lowered arches with recesses in the thread and medallions in the spandrels, which support the wooden roof of the lower choir.

The current Church shows baroque style vaults and altarpieces. Originally it was covered with a mudéjar roof that was hidden between the roof and the later Baroque vault, but it is possible to see it from a short distance through a system of walkways, allowing you to observe the interesting heraldic iconography of its polychrome.
