The former capital of Valdejamud. The vast expanse of fertile meadowland, the result of the confluence of the rivers Óribo and Jamuz have turned this town into one of the liveliest and most prosperous agricultural and livestock centres in the region. Years ago it was also a hub for the production of linen and woollen fabrics.
The building that once provided pilgrims and walkers with food and shelter on Calle Hospital recalls the town’s renowned spirit of hospitality. In turn, Plaza del Rollo with its jurisdictional column is a reminder that justice was once served here.
This town is also the site of Villanueva Castle and the Church of San Cipriano.
