This town stands on the shore of the River Esla Reservoir and is accessed along ancient paths. This peaceful location, also known as the ‘town of storks’, is set against a stunning natural backdrop and offers traditional gastronomy based on locally grown and home-cooked produce.

On leaving the municipality, and after crossing a small medieval bridge, pilgrims will come across the magnificent Chapel of La Virgen del Castillo, perched on a hilltop. The town also boasts a monument to the popular figure of ‘Zangarrón’, a traditional character that can be seen roaming the streets on New Year’s Day and Twelfth Night asking for money, which he then slips inside his unusual shirt.

This town is also the site of the 16th century Church of San Miguel Arcángel.
