Nestling in a hollow in the land, the buildings are typical of those to be found in the region’s towns, characterised by their porticoed façades. Its former splendour was reflected in the three parishes which no longer exist: San Mamés, San Juan Bautista and San Pedro.

This municipality is a perfect resting point for pilgrims: indeed it was the site of the first hostel on this stretch of the Pilgrims’ Route, which opened for the Holy Year of 1999. Its many services and amenities make this one of the most hospitable and welcoming towns on this stretch of the route.

This town also includes the following sites of interest: the Parish Church of Los Santos Justo y Pastor, the Church of Santa María del Castillo, the ruins of the Convent of San Bernardino de Siena (the Poor Clares), the former palace of the Duke of Frías, the 18th century Town Hall and the Chapel of San Bernardino de Siena.
