This small stone village stands next to the River Bajoz, reminding us of this historic walled enclosure built by Don Juan Alonso de Alburquerque, who governed in the name of King Peter I the Cruel. Castromonte owes its name to an ancient castro or fortified settlement built by the Roman legions.

This town includes the following sites of interest: the Church of La Purísima Concepción and the Chapel of El Cristo de las Eras.
