Tamariz de Campos is a small town that is first mentioned in documents dating back to the 11th century, despite its claims to being the oldest municipality. Standing on the banks of the River Sequillo, it is just a short distance from the Castilla Canal.

The town enjoyed its period of greatest power and influence in the 16th century, following the building of the Church of San Juan, and it even became the principal town on the lands of Count Benavente in the 18th century.

This town is also the site of the Church of San Pedro.
