Aranda de Duero is the main town in the Burgos region along the Ribera del Duero. It contains one of the largest sets of underground wine cellars in the region, an underground city that hearkens back to the town's wine trade, which still goes on.

Of the monuments in Aranda de Duero, the Iglesia de Santa María and the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista. The Palacio de los Verdugo is an example of the town's civil architecture, together with the Plaza Mayor and the medieval Puente de las Tenerías over the river Bañuelos.  In the Santuario de la Virgen de las Viñas is the image of the patron saint of Aranda de Duero.
