In the deep and narrow valley of the river Huebra, the image of a Sacred Heart on the horizon shows that one is near Hinojosa de Duero. Next to the Cristo is a cosy Romanesque chapel. Hinojosa is one of the last towns in Salamanca on the border with Portugal. It has kept its old layout of narrow, cobbled streets. The large houses emblazoned with coats of arms that have an ancestral look about them are a surprise to visitors when strolling around, as is the Casa de la Ciriaca.
