Gente Habanera is a vocal choir formed in 2010, primarily dedicated to singing habaneras. Its unique feature is that a large portion of its members are involved in the world of books. The initial core group was formed by a group of librarians, almost all of whom were from the Complutense University. Currently, in addition to singing habaneras, the group has incorporated other types of popular, traditional, and religious songs into its repertoire.

Mar Calvo has directed this choir since its formation. She has sung since 2001 as head of the alto section in the Verda Stelo Choir, where she has served as substitute conductor. She has studied piano, accordion, percussion, and vocal conducting, and currently sings in the Complutense University Choir.

The concert "Absent from My Soul," inspired by Paloma Nogués Blasco's book "María de Molina. Near the End," will be accompanied by a simultaneous audiovisual presentation, complementing the music.
