The Last Boatman is the story of the lives of three generations that serves as a backdrop to tell the story of the Canal de Castilla, the towns and their riverside people.

Ismael, the last boatman on the Canal, has a dream : he dreams that the old canal is once again navigable by new travellers, children running through the streets, clothes hanging out to dry, smoke from the chimneys. Life!

Ismael travels back in time with Sancha and his accordion , and both of them talk to the audience, telling them about their childhood and youth memories, just as our grandfather would tell us: with emotion and a desire to live.

Before disappearing into the mists of time, Ismael and Sancha make us accomplices of their dream, they invite us to discover the Canal, to get on their boat, to walk along the towpaths, to visit the riverside villages, to dream of a new life for our people.
