The Bajo Duero Ethnographic Association has been dedicated for over 40 years to the recovery, conservation and dissemination of traditional Zamora culture, covering all its manifestations: dance, songs, instruments, clothing and oral tradition. Its commitment to the authenticity and preservation of this rich cultural legacy has marked its entire history.
The Association's roots date back to 1945, when it began as a dance group linked to the Ministry of Culture. In 1980, it took an independent path by becoming a Cultural Association. Since then, Bajo Duero has established itself as a benchmark in the promotion of Zamora's tradition, expanding its work in 1989 with the creation of the School of Traditional Dance and Culture.
One of the Association's fundamental pillars is the recovery and study of traditional Zamora clothing. Its private collection, one of the most complete in the province, has hundreds of pieces that document the way of dressing of the last centuries.
His activity has had an impact both nationally and internationally, participating in festivals and folklore shows in countries such as Portugal, France, Germany, Northern Ireland, Cuba and Argentina, among others. He has also collaborated with renowned folklorists and experts such as Miguel Manzano, Eliseo Parra and José Manuel Fraile Gil and has developed multiple research projects, exhibitions and record productions.
Bajo Duero has also created and performed a wide variety of shows that reflect the richness of Zamora's traditions.
