On Thursday, January 23, the conference "Las estancias del asombro" (The rooms of wonder) will take place, given by the illusionist Paco González in our Multipurpose Room (4th floor) at 7:00 p.m.

Today's natural science museums had their origins in the so-called "cabinets of curiosities." These spaces emerged from the 19th century to promote knowledge of the natural world through strange and disparate objects, such as rhinoceros bones, whale bones, coins, maps and other mysterious items. The collections stimulated the imagination of those who came into contact with them in search of answers about the unknown.

Through some Renaissance and Baroque personalities, the illusionist Paco González traces the history of the peculiar collections that gave rise to modern museums. The magician from Zamora shows some of the pieces that make up his own cabinet of curiosities.
