Ai Weiwei. Don Quixote is an extensive exhibition that brings together works produced over the last 20 years by this essential creator on the international art scene, known for his ability to fuse art and activism. This is the first exhibition to display in depth his series of paintings made with LEGO blocks. Regarding them, the artist says: "LEGO, like ancient mosaics, textile and carpet designs, or the movable wooden type printing of the Song Dynasty (c. 1000 AD), embodies a sense of timelessness."

The project also brings together a selection of installations and monumental works, including La Commedia Umana (2017-2021), a chandelier made from 2,000 pieces of black Murano glass and over eight metres high that tells us about the cycle of life and death, and which took four years to make. The exhibition explores the central themes of Ai Weiwei (Beijing, China, 1957), interweaving autobiographical aspects with issues such as the refugee crisis, aspects of international politics or the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of human development.
