The Human Library is an initiative that began in Denmark in 2000 and has expanded to more than 80 countries around the world. In the Human Library, each session has its own catalogue of "human books" and allows you to "read" people who are pigeonholed into a stereotype, who have suffered discrimination or social rejection for multiple reasons. The aim is to learn the story hidden within these books and break with these prejudices, combat discrimination and prevent conflicts. In short, it is a space for dialogue through personal conversations. The "book-people" tell their story and readers listen and comment on it without passing judgment. On the occasion of International Library Day, the Burgos Public Library offers this unique activity at the initiative of the Burgos Library Professionals Association in collaboration with the Diocesan Caritas of Burgos. Attendees can attend the listening/reading of one of the book-people, with 5 books per session. Each of these stories revolves around the life experiences of these people who recount first-hand migration, mental illness, prison or addictions. There will be two sessions: 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. PRIOR REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to attend.
  • Location : Multipurpose room of the Library (basement floor)
  • Age: adults.
  • Duration : 30 minutes.
  • Registration: starting October 9th at the counter on the 1st floor of the library.
