THE SEA: VISION OF CHILDREN WHO HAVE NEVER SEEN IT

In 1934, the young Catalan teacher Antoni Benaiges arrived at the rural school in Bañuelos de Bureba, a small town in Burgos. A few months later he paid for a gramophone and a rudimentary printing press out of his pocket. From that first course, boys and girls publish their emotions, dreams and thoughts.

In January 1936, they published El mar. Vision of children who have never seen it . The little book "contains, in verse format, more than prose, the expressions of the schoolchildren of how they imagine the sea, their fears and their dreams." None of the children had seen the sea. The teacher promises them that that same summer he will take them to Catalonia so they can get to know him. On July 25, 1936, Benaiges was shot. The teacher's promise can no longer be fulfilled.

The piece resulting from our first meeting as creators proposes a device in which the objects, the poem and the documentary material coexist without hierarchies.
