Claire Martin was born in the Colliers Wood neighborhood of London. She grew up in a home that she defines as full of music since her parents were great jazz fans. The reason that at a very early age prompted her to study music was listening to the great singer Ella Fitgerald and this decision led her to enroll at the Doris Holford Stage School. A Betty Carter concert on the Ronnie Scott's stage was decisive in consolidating their future plans.

His professional career began at the age of 19 when he began performing at the Savoy Hotel, later extending for two years with a contract on the legendary Queen Elisabeth liner. In 1991 he began leading his own quartet and signed his first record contract, releasing the album The Waiting Game. A year later he opened a session for Tony Bennett at the Glasgow Jazz Festival.

Claire Martin has performed on all continents with her own projects, captivating audiences and specialized critics. He has also been a solo voice with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the RTE Concerto Orchestra, the BBC Big Band and the BBC Concert Orchestra. In addition to her role as a professional jazz singer, Martin is the host of a program on the British BBC network, Jazz Line Up, a promotional platform for established and emerging musicians.

During the last decades he has toured the UK, Scandinavia, Russia and China, performing at the Lincoln Center in New York with the prestigious pianist Bill Charlap. He has recorded as a duo with the renowned pianist Kenny Barron and has participated in various projects, highlighting his collaborations with Django Bates. Today Claire Martin is considered one of the best female jazz voices on the international scene, with a career where elegance and high vocal level are undeniable hallmarks of her style.
