The oldest preserved remains of the church of San Juan Bautista are dated to the XIII century. In the late XV, coinciding with the economic splendor of Segovia, there was the transformation of the temple to Gothic style, and then between 1731 and 1736, new works were made, adapting the church to baroque style.

The altarpiece of San Juan Bautista is one of the most important Renaissance altarpieces of Castilla, with Flemish and Italian influences. It is worth mentioning the painting of its panel paintings as well as its relief works, from the first half of the XVI century.
