A large part of the 207 kilometers of the Canal de Castilla runs through the province of Palencia and it is here where the possibility of navigating this masterpiece of hydraulic engineering is most suggestive. The first option of this experience, ideal to do in the summer months, is the Marqués de la Ensenada boat which is located in Herrera de Pisuerga, next to the Canal de Castilla Interpretation Center, whose route includes the San Andrés dam and the Maroma, a system used in the past by barges to maneuver at the crossing with the Pisuerga River. The next option is the Juan de Homar boat that makes different routes (6.5 km and 3.5 km) from the Frómista quadruple lock to the municipality of Boadilla del Camino, at the point where the Camino de Santiago and the Canal de Castilla. Finally, at the Canal de Castilla museum in Villaumbrales, it is possible to rent one of the three pleasure boats to make the section to Becerril de Campos.
