Isabella the Catholic
One of the most outstanding women in the history of Spain. Isabella the Catholic, born in Madrigal de las Altas Torres in 1451 and died in Medina del Campo in 1504, was Queen of Castile and consort of Aragon. After her marriage with Ferdinand of Aragon, one of the most prolific reigns of the Iberian Peninsula began, that of the Catholic Monarchs, whose milestones include the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus and the taking of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada.
His reign laid the foundations that led Spain to be the leading world power in the following centuries.
