Located in the heart of Sierra de Atapuerca, this Center is an old mining restored for tourism, leisure, culture and research. It has more than 200 visitable meters of underground galleries that allow transporting ourselves to the past.

A small permanent exhibition has been set up inside the mine, called ‘THE DEPTHS OF THE EARTH’. This exhibition provides a simple yet clear overview of the history of mining in Spain, providing an insight into this activity in the province of Burgos and the Atapuerca region, dating from the New Stone Age to the present day, yet without forgetting the global nature of the world we live in today.

The information is presented on special translucent canvases backed up by 6 display cabinets containing minerals and rocks from some of Spain’s historic mines and several that remain active today.
