The V Contest 'Dance on the Camino' will tour fifteen municipalities of The French Way of Saint James with nine shows in Castile and León
The fifth event of this competition promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports will take place in various municipalities in the provinces of Burgos, Palencia and Leon, as well as some Jacobean towns in Galicia, Aragon and the Basque Country.
The fifth 'Danza en el Camino' competition has been presented. It is a competition that encompasses art, music, avant-garde performance, tradition and history. This initiative, organized by the Ministry within the framework of the 22nd Burgos & New York International Choreography Festival, will be held between July 10 and 23 in different locations located on The French Way of Saint James. On this occasion, the festival once again aims to expand the limits of artistic expression by proposing a creative itinerary inspired by the values of the Jacobean route.
Between July 10 and 23, 2023, towns in the provinces of Burgos, Palencia and Leon, all of them located on the World Heritage Jacobean route; the provinces of Lugo, A Coruña and the city of Bilbao and, as a novelty this year, two municipalities in the province of Huesca will host the performance of three shows selected for their particular way of linking culture, the art of dance and spaces not conventional. The selected pieces, unpublished and expressly created for this call, are 'Somos', signed by the choreographers Carla Cervantes Caro and Sandra Egido Ibáñez; 'Lucero', by creator Alejandro Moya González; and '(Íor)', by Marc Fernández Mercadé.
