Type of route
Several days

The Sierra de la Demanda is nothing like the rest of the mountainous environments in the Community. They are drier mountains, with a harsh climate and good wood production where the small towns with a marked mountain character and very distant from each other, are discreetly camouflaged with the environment.

Data of interest

Around

It is in this land of medieval stories and legends, where the county of Castile became a kingdom and San Pedro de Arlanza became its own Camelot. Where, in a small space, the traditional architecture of Covarrubias is mixed with the chants of the monks of Silos, the spaghetti western cemetery of Sad Hill, the fossil remains and footprints of dinosaurs in Salas de los Infantes and the fossil trees of Hacinas.

The roads are tough and unpredictable, with surprises almost around every bend.

Wide, not very deep valleys are mixed with winding stretches of canyons, where small streams run melodiously parallel to the narrow roads.

Dare to visit the glacial lagoons of Neila or the Laguna Negra of Vinuesa and enjoy these paved forest roads, which take you to unforgettable natural environments.

To consider...

The fuel issue. There are not many refueling points and you have to add to this that mobile coverage will be quite limited.

If you want to visit the cemetery from the movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", we advise you to do so from Contreras, instead of starting from Silos. Although both are dirt tracks with loose stones, through Contreras it is straighter and you will avoid the problems with the slopes and curves that the road from Silos has.
