EuroVelo 1 belongs to EuroVelo, a European network of 16 long-distance cycling routes, promoted by the European Cyclists’ Federation, which connects the entire European continent, over more than 80,000 km. The EuroVelo 1 route stretches over 9,150 kilometres, starting at North Cape, Norway, it runs through England, Ireland, France and Spain, ending in Camiña, Portugal.

The route enters Spain through the Atlantic Pyrenees in Navarra and follows the French Pilgrim’s Route to Santiago until it reaches Burgos. Once there, you can visit the cathedral, the pinnacle of European Gothic art and the only cathedral in Spain to be designated a World Heritage Site. You can also visit the Atapuerca Archaeological Site, the cornerstone of human evolution, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
