Las Cocinitas place. Old stone quarry

The area of "Las Cocinitas" is the origin of the wonderful golden stone with which such significant Salamancan buildings were built as the Cathedrals, the Plaza Mayor or the façade of the University of Salamanca. These old quarries, which date back to the 11th and 12th centuries, constitute an enormously instructive visit where they will explain all the secrets of this material to us. The special characteristics of this stone made possible the birth of a very special artistic style, the Plateresque.
